Uakari Lodge at Mamirauá Reserve

The Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve had been the first unit of conservation of this category implemented in Brazil. It is located in the Amazon forest and the city of Tefé, is the main gateway to the Reserve. The Uakari Lodge is composed by seven floating structures made out of wood and covered with thatch, all connected through floating runways. The Lodge was designed for minimum environmental impact, with appropriate technologies such as rainwater collection, solar power for lighting and water heating, and a sewage filtration system. There are 10 comfortable, simple and ample (25m²) rooms, with its own terrace (forest view), bathroom and two single beds.

Package – 06 Days / 05 Nights

Day 1 – MANAUS
Arrival in Manaus, reception and transfer to chosen hotel. Balance the day atleisure and overnight.

Breakfast at hotel and city tour. Drop off at the airport and flight to Tefe city. Arrival in Tefé and regular transfer to Uakari Lodge, by road and boat. With a little luck, you may see the pink dolphins during the navigation. Arrival at lodge and accommodation.

Early morning hiking to observe the local fauna and flora. In the flooded season (May- Ago) the jungle trip will made by canoe as the level of river vary around 12 meters during the “Rainy season”. Breakfast. Participate on field works of researchers that are working in the ecotourism area and learn technical information in the presentation. Lunch and time to rest. Dinner and night tour (by foot or canoe) to spot the nocturnal animals. Return to the lodge and overnight.

Breakfast and visit to a local village. After lunch, motorized canoe tour at Mamirauá Lake, a beautiful lake inside the preserved area of the Reserve. Possibility of encounters with pink dolphins and perhaps the pirarucu fish. Sunset in the lake and return to the lodge. Dinner and presentation of the project by the naturalist guide.

Breakfast and departure to Tefé city. Arrival at the airport for the flight to Manaus. Arrival in Manaus, reception and transfer to chosen hotel. Balance the day at leisure and overnight.
Day 6 – MANAUS  
Breakfast and transfer to the airport.

It is important to mention that the activities described above can be changed because of environmental factors, water level variation and climate conditions.

Due to its proximity with the Equador, the Amazon region has only two defined seasons: the rainy season (from December to May) and the dry season (from June to November). In either one, the heat and humidity will be firmly present.
